Megan Abernathy

My name is Megan Abernathy, and this is my second year teaching Floral Design at Plano East. I grew up in Katy, TX but graduated from the University of Arkansas with my bachelor's degree in agriculture education in December 2021. In high school, I was a very active member of my FFA chapter. My biggest passion in FFA was showing sheep all four years, but I also participated in Chapter Conducting, Junior Quiz Team, Senior Quiz Team, Vet Med, Farm Business Management, Horse Judging, and public speaking. I also served as a chapter officer for 3 years, and as a district FFA officer for 1 year. After finding my love for agriculture and FFA in high school, I decided to extend my time in FFA to college. I participated in my Alumni FFA chapter at the UofA, and served as the chapter President my senior year of college.

Although I started my college career as a Biochemistry major, I knew in my heart that I would end up as an Ag Teacher. Therefore, I switched my major to Agriculture Education my sophomore year of college and never looked back.

Currently, I am the advisor in charge of sheep and goats at Plano East, and train the Senior Quiz Team, Chapter Conducting Team, Meats Judging Team, and Farm Business Management team.
